Students train in various traffic environments, gaining experience in common driving challenges under real-world driving conditions. Emphasis is placed on skills required to pass the Illinois Secretary of State Commercial Driver License written and road tests. Special Emphasis is placed on skills required to operate equipment safely and respond to changing roadway conditions, hazards and emergencies.

Class schedules may be extended due to holidays or individual training needs. -Students take the Illinois Secretary of State CDL written and driving exams at completion of the training program. -Graduates are awarded a Lake Land College Certificate accredited by the Illinois Community College Board.
Admission Requirements
-Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age. Those seeking interstate employment must be twenty-one (21) years of age. -Applicants must possess a valid Illinois driver's license at time of enrollment. -Applicants must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen before attending training. -Applicants must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to interpret highway traffic signs and signals, make legible entries on reports and records, and respond to official inquiries from law enforcement personnel. -Based on driving history, a student may be required to obtain a recent motor vehicle report from the Secretary of State Driver Licensing facility. -Employment background check includes felony or criminal charges, history of mental illness, DUI or alcohol-related citation in the last 5 years, history of drug and/or alcohol abuse, or poor work history.
